Our Impact
Our program continues to make a measurable and meaningful difference. This impact is clear in the number of new campers we serve each year and the steady rate at which campers go on to become camp leaders. Most importantly, it comes through campers’ stories, and how their experiences at Steve’s Camp help shape their personal development and next steps.

Camper Stories
Kayleen
Camper turned Counselor
Bronx, NY
“The moment I got off the bus, I was like ‘Oh my gosh. I’m in love with this place.’ The natural and raw environment felt so peaceful and spacious. Your thoughts are able to be set free, your worries are able to be let go, and your stress is able to be set aside. For me, I was able to enjoy myself and find who I really am.”
Tati Mwezi
Camper to Program Director
Bronx, NY
“It feels like a full circle, especially now. I was a camper, and then I became a counselor-in-training, then a counselor, and now a program director. I’m also able to watch someone who was my camper become a counselor. Now, she’s an activities director. She now has people who she’s felt like she helped raise. She always says to me, ‘You helped me. Camp helped raise me.’ This is the process—people continue to come back every year, and they continue to grow and develop leadership wise. It feels really rewarding to still be here after 12 years.”
